Variable Optical Attenuator, Multi-mode
The VOAxM-1 is a Variable Optical Attenuator module that plugs in to the XBERT and ParalleX™ Chassis. Covering wavelength ranges of 800nm - 1000nm (MM). The VOA module also incorporates a coupler with monitor output, allowing simultaneous measurement of optical power. When used in the XBERT chassis with Bit error rate tester, Clock, XFPTest module and power meter modules, users can perform receiver sensitivity tests with one instrument.

Characteristics
 - Calibrated Multimode or Singlemode VOA
 - Attenuation range: 40dB
 - Attenuation step size: 0.01dB
 - Monitor Output (10%)
 - Changeable and cleanable optical adapter (FC, LC and SC available)

Applications

 - Optical loss simulation
 - Sensitivity measurement
 - Variable optical source (optical source required)
 - BER measurement
 - EDFA characterization

OPTION 164
The output signal can be fed through an internal splitter of a coupling ratio 50/50 for facilitating sensitivity measurements of fiber optic transceivers and receivers
